Spend a Saturday walking the square in downtown Ellijay and you'll notice something right away: most of the shops you'll step into are owned by the people behind the counter. The antiques dealer restocking her booth. The boutique owner steaming a new dress. The artist hanging a show. The pharmacist who's known three generations of your friend's family by name. There are plenty of pretty mountain towns in North Georgia — but the ones where the town itself is still made by hand are rarer than they used to be.

Somewhere around the last exit off 515, the traffic thins, the ridgelines pile up, and you remember why you made the drive. Ellijay doesn't announce itself the way other mountain towns do. It doesn't need to. The apple orchards, the rivers, the square — they've been here for a hundred years, waiting for whoever shows up with an open Saturday. Here's how to spend forty-eight hours in it.
Pretty awesome little ice cream shop in Ellijay. Simple price by the cup. $5, $7, and $8 dollars. Fill them up and add all the toppings. No shortage of a variety of toppings either!

The mint chocolate chip had a chalky texture and an unpleasant aftertaste. Having had quality, traditional ice cream elsewhere, this did not meet that standard. The gelato and sorbet are dispensed like frozen yogurt, which impacts both texture and mouthfeel. Instead of being dense and creamy, they come across as light and airy, more similar to soft-serve than true gelato or sorbet. Overall, the presentation and texture suggest a focus on convenience rather than quality.

Our family spent the week in Ellijay and found Abby’s on a day we were exploring the downtown area. We loved it so much we went back 2 more times! I have celiac and was able to eat most of the frozen yogurts and the employees were knowledgeable and friendly. We will definitely be back if we come back to the area!

We got some frozen yogurt. Each of us chose a different flavor. It is flat rate price and any toppings are included It is a clean, nice and friendly place. This was a nice and yummy find.

First off, food is great but service is horrible. There’s a young girl with the personality and IQ of a shoe working there and I’ll never give them my money again. We had a bathroom emergency with my 5 year old and she denied my wife and daughter to use it. I had to come back and demand she let us use the restroom. Ruined a great time and we’ll never be back and it’s a shame. Basic decency and common sense would’ve earned 5 stars and she clearly has none.

The inside is clean and welcoming! They have 3 size options: small ($7) medium ($8) and large ($9). Multiple flavor options and a BUNCH of toppings to choose from. They also have different types of ice cream, they have gelato, frozen yogurt, sherbet, and your classic scoop ice cream. Workers are super friendly. One thing that is missing inside is that there are no public restrooms available. Definitely a cute little place, and I recommend if you are in downtown Ellijay, that you try it out.

Was visiting Blue Ridge, Georgia area on vacation, or from out of town (North Florida), my first time coming to area, however friend I was with, she had been to Blue Ridge once before. After doing some sightseeing I believe Sunday evening (12-08-2024), we wanted to look for something for dessert. Had seen Abbys Ice Cream, and we both agreed to trying... I am thankful we did! Though the establishment was small, it was easy to navigate and felt open. Many of choices of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and different toppings for dessert if desired. The prices were very reasonable, as I believe they either went by cup size (Small, Medium, or Large), or if weighed how much each dessert was? Anyhow, the young lady working at the time was very helpful and greeted us as well as thanked us. I believe I had picked orange sorbet and cookies and cream (2 flavors), and cheese cake crumbles with oreo cookie crumbles. The orange sorbet was pretty decent (light and refreshing), but the cookies and cream was extremely delicious, or my opinion at least... My friend and I both enjoyed ourselves and desserts. Thank you for great service and excellent dessert and products!
